Psychiatric Medication Management
Psychiatric medication management begins with a comprehensive evaluation of your current symptoms, mental health and medical history, previous treatment, medication history, daily functioning, and personal goals.
Treatment is individualized and may include starting a new medication, adjusting or continuing an existing medication, addressing side effects, or gradually tapering medication when clinically appropriate.
Medication management may include:
Review of current symptoms and treatment progress
Medication selection and dose adjustments
Monitoring for effectiveness and side effects
Medication simplification or gradual tapering
Ongoing follow-up and treatment planning
Coordination with other healthcare professionals when needed
Controlled Medications
Controlled medications, including stimulants, may be considered when clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable laws and prescribing requirements. Prescribing is not guaranteed and is based on the clinical evaluation, treatment history, safety considerations, and the need for appropriate monitoring.
Prior treatment records, prescription-monitoring information, additional screening, or follow-up monitoring may be required before or during treatment with a controlled medication.
Medication is only one part of treatment. Recommendations are made collaboratively and may also include psychotherapy, behavioral strategies, lifestyle changes, laboratory testing, or coordination with other members of your healthcare team.
